Presenting images of interesting astronomical objects obtained with modest, commercially available telescopes and CCD cameras that are optimized for taking long exposures of low light-level subjects. Separate black and white exposures through clear, red, green and blue filters are digitally combined and stretched, using Adobe Photoshop and other image processing software, to create full color pictures.

Please click on any image below for a larger view and more information. Calibrate your monitor here.

Earlier images, near the page bottom, were taken from a suburban, San Jose, California back-yard location with moderately high night-time sky glow conditions through a portable 12-inch Dall-Kirkham cassegrain telescope.

Google Translation:
Most images were taken from my observatory in the south central mountains of New Mexico through a remotely controlled RCOS 20-inch (Ritchey-Chretien) telescope. Some southern hemisphere images were also acquired from a remotely operated observatory located near Melbourne, Australia that features a 12-inch RCOS telescope. A few pictures, noted as NOAO, were acquired using an identical 20-inch Ritchey-Chretien telescope located at the National Optical Astronomy Observatory Visitor’s Center on Kitt Peak.

All images are copyright ©2004- 2008 by R Jay GaBany. Here's a brief biography, a list of articles I have written for the Universe Today interviews with Col Maybury, host of The Starlight Zone on radio station 2NUR, 103.7 FM, Newcastle, Australia and news items related to my work. Here's a list of speaking engagements where I have been asked to give a presention.

Please contact me anytime with comments or questions.

Inexpensive, full resolution prints are available here for many images and now through AstroArts Online Shop in Japan.
